Week 1. Lean Improvement: Six Simple Tips to Improve Workflow: What’s Going on Here?
September 2 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT
Over the next six weeks, you will learn free simplistic tips that will guide you to make improvements while eliminating bottlenecks and challenging rework in the laboratory. This series will teach your team how to effectively identify sources of waste that can hinder laboratory process flow and apply improvements based on Lean methods and tools.
Level of Instruction
Week-1: What is Going on Here? We learn how to gather the team and pose the question: What issue during your workday requires you to stop your work and fix some thing before you can continue.
Week-2. Understanding the Real Issues: understand most if not all of the contributing factors for the selected issue and to understand the reasons for occurrence.
Week-3: Observing the Process: We discuss the process of following the workflow from start to finish and document any activities that may have contributed to our original issue.
Week-4: Documenting a Few Steps of the Process: By studying the process flow we grasp the handoffs, bottlenecks, defects and what happens from start to finish.
Week-5: We can Design a More Efficient Process: We note opportunities or defects that occur within our process flow and start the improvement process.
Week-6: Ok. That Worked so What’s Next?: We will understand how to continue with the improvement process. We revisit the original process map, choose another problem, brainstorm with our team and work to eliminate this issue from reoccurring.
